The Beauty of Mother Teresa

I love St. Teresa of Calcutta. I love her simplicity. I love her surrender to God. I love her faith in the midst of darkness. I love how she practiced truth in love.

St. Teresa of Calcutta is a reminder to me to love the people that God has put in my path. Her path took her through the slums of Calcutta. My path takes me through the halls of a high school. She reminds me to see each person as Jesus. For her, this was the destitute and dying. For me, it is a call to see each of my students as another Christ. She shows me that before I can properly love others, I must first receive from Love Himself. She spent the first two hours of her day in the chapel because you can't give what you don't have. She received first and then was able to give.

She is a reminder to me that faith isn't about a feeling. Her "dark night of the soul" lasted for nearly fifty years. Yet, she continued to show up and serve joyfully. She lived her life with intense love and purpose for her Creator and His creation.

St. Teresa of Calcutta, pray for us.
