Patience like the Sourdough

If you've ever baked a loaf of sourdough, you know that it requires lots of time. From feeding the discard to letting it bulk ferment twice, to actually baking, takes about 24 hours. Some may look at this humble loaf of bread and not see the value or worth in practicing patience. But when you slice it to find a beautiful combination of crust and perfectly tender crumb, you know the wait was worth it and so is the bread. AND this bread has health benefits that surpass those of quick rising breads.

That's the life of faith. God doesn't always work overnight in my prayer. And I am, for sure, a work in progress. But the slow, gradual revealing of who God is and the transformation in my own life is worth it. I must learn a little bit of patience with myself and a little more trust in God. He is making something beautiful and constantly revealing my worth, if I simply trust the way and the Way-maker.
