May Today There Be Peace

Sometimes I struggle with trusting God- His timing, His plan, His path, His ways. It's not a new struggle of mine. For someone who likes to be in control, it can be daunting to "let go and let God." Those moments (often spanning long periods of time) lead to feeling unsettled and an overall lack of peace.

One of the best pieces of advice I was given by a priest friend was to pray the Litany of Trust written by the Sisters of Life. This bold prayer gets at the heart of trust...recognition of God's unwavering goodness and trustworthiness. He is faithful and His promises are true.

If you are like me and could use a deeper trust in God's goodness and mercy, below you'll find the resources. When I remember that His ways and timing are perfect, the unsettled feelings fade and peace takes its place. Jesus, I trust in you. Help me to trust you more.

A Prayer by St. Teresa of Avila

“May today there be peace within.

May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be.

May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith.

May you use those gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you.

May you be content knowing you are a child of God.

Let this presence settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love.

It is there for each and every one of us.”
